It's a sad day when camera stores can promote something that will bring down the reputation and affect the lively hood of photographers.
We certainly understand your concerns, however as a Pro Camera store we need to cater to all levels and genre of photographer. Technology has advanced so that a lot of photographers, at all levels, are utilising video and as such we need to be conversant with the technology changes.
Similar concerns as yours were expressed when photography advanced from Black and White to Colour. A lot of photographers believed that photos should only be seen in black and white. It didn't stop colour from becoming experimented with and ultimately popular.
On a more recent level, the switch from film to digital. Again, there were concerns that it would ruin photography, however a large majority of us are now using and embracing digital.
The reality is that the person taking happy snaps through to highly acclaimed press photographers are now experimenting with video on their cameras, and using what they have available to them, including their iPhones. This video fusion has become so popular that this year it was even recognised at the AIPP awards with a new category.
We do not wish to affect reputation or livelihood, but we have to remain open to the fact that technology will move and create new genres that we must, as a store, cater to.
