Leica Announce V-Lux 30 Digital Camera

Last night Leica announced a new line up to their digital compact camera range. The V-Lux 30 which supersedes the current V-Lux 20.

The camera features a newly designed 14.1 megapixel 1/2.33'' CMOS sensor which guarantees outstanding image quality and allows photographers the ability to capture image sequences with a fast continuous burst rate of 10 frames a second at full resolution, or 60 frames a second with a reduced resolution.

The V-Lux 30 also features a new Leica DC Vario-Elmar 4.3-68.8mm f/3.3-5.9 ASPH. 16x zoom lens. In old school 35mm terms that's equivalent to a 24-384mm lens. Another interesting feature of the V-Lux 30 is its 3D mode. This enables users to combine 2 suitable images into a "stereo image pair" and saves them as a 3D image in a MPO format.

Thanks to the intergrated GPS function, the V-Lux 30 records the geographical coordinates of the location and local time for every shot and saves them in the Exif data of the image files. When travelling, the V-Lux 30 can also display the sightseeing highlights of the immediate neighbourhood (1,000,000 "points of interest".) Images posted on social networks, image portals and map sites such as Google maps or Google Earth reveal exactly when are where they were shot.

Another great new feature of the V-lux 30 is its 3'' touch screen LCD. With 460,000 pixels this provides the user a reliable and precise assessment of images both during compositon and after they've been captured.

To go along with the V-Lux 30's elegant styling are 2 leather cases (available on release). A soft leather case and a strong resilient leather case.
