You can have a full read and download a copy from the following link: http://nikonasia-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7117/p/0/c/0

Some of the modifications are listed below:

Modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions
  • Support for the Nikon 1 V1, Nikon 1 J1, COOLPIX P7100, COOLPIX AW100/AW100s have been added.
  • Support for the Smart Photo Selector and Motion Snapshot functions built into the Nikon 1 V1 and Nikon 1 J1 has been added.
    • All images captured in Smart Photo Selector mode, or just the “best shot” in an SPS series, can be displayed.
    • Playback similar to that of camera playback is possible for Motion Snapshot files.
    • Motion Snapshot files can be uploaded to my Picturetown.
  • An “exclude” option has been added to ratings.
  • Movie ratings can now be changed.  However, ratings cannot be applied to movies that were not originally rated.
  • When Highlight Protection was applied to RAW images captured with the P7000, areas around the portion to which this function was applied became dark.  This issue has been resolved.
  • An issue that prevented the correct display of flash compensation value for images captured with the D3100 using the SB-900 has been resolved.
  • When the "Auto Lateral Color Aberration function" was applied to some RAW images, gray edges were displayed in some portions of the subject. This issue has been resolved.
  • An issue that caused JPEG images edited or saved with ViewNX 2 to be saved at a high compression ratio has been resolved.
  • Support for transferring the following files has been added to Nikon Transfer 2.
    • Files recorded using the Smart Photo Selector function
    • Files recorded using the Motion Snapshot function
    • GPS log files recorded with the AW100/AW100s
    • MPO (3D) files
  • An “exclude” option has been added to Nikon Transfer 2 ratings.
  • An "Always use ratings applied on original files (supported camera only)" check box has been added to the Nikon Transfer 2 Preferences panel.
  • Movie ratings can now be changed with transfer using Nikon Transfer 2. However, ratings cannot be applied to movies that were not originally rated.
  • The "Start Transfer" button in the Nikon Transfer 2 window is now larger.
  • An issue that prevented Nikon Transfer 2 recognition of a memory card inserted in slot 2 when the D7000 was connected to the computer has been resolved.
Additional modifications to the Windows version

  • When the Pictures Library was viewed with ViewNX 2 under Windows 7, images saved to the folder sometimes were not displayed in the image view area. This issue has been resolved.
  • When "Open With" was selected for a RAW image displayed in ViewNX 2 "Image Viewer" mode, and the image was opened in Photoshop Camera Raw, the Image Viewer window was grayed out and a message indicating that the file was of an unsupported type was displayed. This issue has been resolved.
  • In some rare cases, when ViewNX 2 was launched on a system with a shortcut to an active server page, an Internet connection error was displayed. This issue has been resolved.
  • When unique characters were entered in XMP/IPTC fields in the Polish version of Nikon Transfer 2 (Windows), the text string entered was deleted and only the unique characters remained.  This issue has been resolved.
  • Restrictions on the number of movies and still images that can be added to the storyboard in Nikon Movie Editor, as well as restrictions on total length, have been reduced. (With the modification, 10 movies, or a total of 30 movies and still images, can be added. Total length has been increased to 60 minutes.)
  • The "Slide" (Up, Down, Left, Right) transition effect in Nikon Movie Editor has been changed to "Blinds" (Up, Down, Left, Right) effect.

Additional modifications to the Macintosh version

  • Mac OS X version 10.4 is no longer supported. An issue that caused altitude in GPS data with GPX log matching to be displayed as a negative value has been resolved.
  • Files exceeding 2 GB in size can now be transferred with Nikon Transfer 2 under Mac OS X version 10.5.8.

NEW Pentax Q Digital Camera

Pentax is at it again with the announcement of their new format Q camera system. Stock has arrived so come on in and have a demonstration of this superb camera. We will also have this camera on display at our upcoming Pentax Workshop 16 October 2011. You can view some of the specifications below:

Specifications:

World's Smallest and Lightest Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera
The Q represents an evolution in interchangeable lens digital camera design, featuring the world’s smallest and lightest body. Experience the PENTAX Q. The Camera. Evolved.

Q-Mount Lens System  The Q features the newly designed PENTAX Q-mount lens system for convenient interchangeability with a variety of specialty Q lenses. Choose from a selection of prime, zoom, fisheye lenses, and more to suit just about any photographic need. The Q system will be available in a standard kit that includes the 8.5mm lens (equivalent to 47mm).

12.4 Megapixels
Enjoy exceptional image quality in 12.4 megapixels courtesy of the Q’s 1/2.3 inch backlit CMOS image sensor. Capable of producing 12 bit DNG RAW and JPG images, the backlit CMOS sensor is a highly efficient light-gathering instrument designed specifically to produce very low noise at high levels of sensitivity.

Durable
Though extremely compact, the Q is also surprisingly durable, sporting lightweight, scratch resistant magnesium alloy body.

Traditional DSLR Shooting Modes
Experienced photographers will enjoy the power and flexibility of traditional DSLR shooting modes such as Program, Aperture/Shutter Priority, and Metered Manual exposure control. Yet casual shooters will appreciate the highly convenient automatic modes such as the set-it-and-forget-it PENTAX Auto Picture and 21 scene modes.

Customizable Quick Dial
Conveniently choose from a variety of creative modes, Smart Effect options, or camera settings to assign to the Q’s Quick Dial located on the front of the camera. Easily customize the setting or effect using the Quick Dial’s 4 positions, allowing you to concentrate on photography without having to explore the camera’s menu system.

HDR Capture
In-camera HDR capture mode shoots 3 images of varying exposures, blending them to bring out the details in even the darkest shadows and brightest highlights of extreme contrast shots.

1080p HD Video
Shoot high quality motion video with stunning full 1080p HD clarity at 30 frames per second. The Q efficiently processes the full HD video using high quality h.264 compression for superior color and detail. Explore creative video effects through the use of custom image modes, digital video filters, and interval shooting; or select from a variety of Q lenses to realize your perfect artistic vision.

Sensor-Shift Shake Reduction
Capture stabilized, blur and dust free images even in low lighting courtesy of the Q’s sensor-shift Shake Reduction system with integrated DRII Dust Reduction. Body-based Shake Reduction operates independently of the Q’s lenses, allowing the same level of stabilization regardless of lens selection.

3 Inch LCD Monitor
Easily capture or review images and video using the Q’s large 3 inch LCD monitor. The high quality LCD features HVGA resolution with 460,000 dots, as well as viewing angles up to 170 degrees horizontally and vertically.

5 FPS
Capture even the fastest action with a 5 frames per second continuous shooting mode, ideal for sporting events, children at play, or any fast action situation.

Bokeh Control Filter
Enjoy effortless bokeh control with the Q’s bokeh control filter. Traditionally controlled through a DSLR lens’s aperture, bokeh is the out of focus part of the background that helps to emphasize the subject, drawing the viewer’s eyes to the most important part of the photo. The Q assists the experienced and casual photographer alike by offering a fine degree of extra control over image bokeh via an in-camera filter operation.

Smart Effects Mode
New Smart Effects modes enhance digital photography by applying a series of effects to images to achieve high quality finishing. Brilliant Color, Vintage Color, Warm Fade, Bold Monochrome, and Water Color are just some of the Smart Effects available, which can also be assigned to the Q’s Quick Dial.

USER Modes For Creativity
Powerful USER modes allow the creative photographer to save a series of favorite camera settings, filters, and custom image modes for instant reuse.

1/2000 to 30 Second Shutter Speeds
Shutter speeds range from 1/2000 to 30 seconds, perfect for freezing fast action or capturing long nighttime exposures. Bulb mode adds flexibility for low light photography and motion effects.

Built-In Popup Flash
The Q’s built-in popup flash adds the perfect amount of extra light to an image, while its high extension naturally reduces the redeye effect common to compact cameras. The Q’s flash is effective to 23 feet at 200 ISO, and covers a wide angle 28 degree field of view.

HDMI Port
A built-in micro HDMI port is perfect for outputting high resolution images and video, with sound, to modern HDTVs.

SD, SDHC, and SDXC Memorey Cards
The Q is compatible with the latest generation SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards for ultra-high capacity storage as well as outstanding image file portability.

RAW File Processing
The Q includes SILKYPIX Developer Studio 3 software for powerful and flexible RAW file processing. In-camera RAW image development is also supported.

External Viewfinder Available Separately
Compose images and video either with the Q’s LCD monitor or using a shoe-mounted viewfinder attachment available as an optional accessory. The External Viewfinder O-VF1 makes an excellent accessory to the Q, offering outstanding compositional framing, even in the brightest sunlight where viewing an LCD screen is traditionally a challenge.

Peter Coulson Hasselblad Night 14 September 2011

Peter Coulson has once again dedicated his time to promoting Hasselblad. He was recently in Perth giving a seminar for Camera Electronic on behalf of Hasselblad and CR Kennedy. Everyone enjoyed the night and learnt a lot from Peter's one light technique and the easy to use Hasselblad H4D40 tethered to Hasselblad Phocus software. Peter demonstrated the use of the Hasselblad Phocus software when shooting images and how easy it is to let the software correct the images for the shooting environment leaving the photographer to be more artistic.

If you are interested in this state of the art capture technology then contact the staff at Camera Electronic for a demonstration. If you would like to try before you buy we have a complete rental unit available which one of our staff can come out and demonstrate. We also have a unit available for rent. Our rental model is available now to rent for $350 per day. Email Michael or Sam @ rentals@cameraelectronic.com.au to book a rental of this superb lens or just to come in and have a look.

Ultra-High performance super-telephoto lens
With a large aperture of f/2.8, the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM is an ultra-high-performance super-telephoto lens delivering exceptional image quality in a durable design using magnesium alloy and titanium to reduce weight.
L-series quality

4-stop Image Stabilizer

A 4-stop optical Image Stabilizer – specially designed for the lens’ specific focal length range – works to counteract image blur, which can occur during handheld shooting, or at slow shutter speeds. Automatic panning detection ensures effective performance when tracking moving subjects and, as the IS system is based in the lens, results are visible through the viewfinder during framing.

Ideally suited for all types of action photography especially those disciplines that require the utilization of panning, the new IS mode 3 only activates the image stabilizer element during exposure.
Enhanced image quality with SWC coating

Designed for use in digital photography, Canon’s patented Subwavelength structure coating helps minimise the ghosting and flare caused by internal reflections. By eliminating the cause, the coating reduces reflections and helps to deliver crisp, clear images.
Fast, quiet auto focus

A ring USM (Ultrasonic motor) uses ultrasonic frequency vibrations to drive extremely rapid auto focus with near-silent operation. A high-speed CPU and optimised AF algorithms contribute further to AF speed. Full time electronic manual focus override is available without having to switch out of AF.

Pocket Wizard Firmware Update

Wireless flash control company PocketWizard has updated the firmware of its ControlTL system for both Canon and Nikon products. The update works in the MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 radios for both systems. The upgrade adds features such as Hypersync Automation, which attempts to adjust the timing of flash firing in response to shutter speed changes to maximise the sync speed. There is also a Speedcycler mode that, when used with an AC3 Zonecontroller, fires groups of flashes sequentially so that one group is always ready when shooting bursts of images.

So. Burlington, VTSeptember 1, 2011 – PocketWizard, the industry leader in wireless control and synchronization of cameras, flash and light meters, announces a major new update to its ControlTL firmware for both Nikon and Canon versions of its MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 radios. Available now, version 3.0 for Nikon and Version 6.0 for Canon include several new features and updates to make the system more powerful than ever including HyperSync™ Automation, SpeedCycler and Off Camera Power Control.  Any current owner of the ControlTL system can install these new features and updates for free using the PocketWizard Utility.

“We’re excited about these new features for the ControlTL system and the creative potential they represent for photographers,” said Dave Schmidt, Vice President of Marketing at LPA Design, the company that manufacturers PocketWizard photo products. “Firmware upgrades such as this are a benefit for photographers who invest in PocketWizard radios. HyperSync Automation will be a game changer in that it opens up the amazing capability to use blazing fast sync speeds with flash units – creating amazing potential in sports or portrait applications.”

NEW Fuji X10 Digital Camera

For all of you out there who think that Ken Rockwell is always right about everything...stop reading. If you like to think for yourself, well Fuji have the camera for you. They have announced the little brother to the Fuji X100. It is small, tough, light, and as retro as you like! This camera will travel well.

The Fujifilm X10 is an enthusiast compact with a F2.0-2.8, 28-112mm-equivalent lens. It's built around a 2/3in (6.6 x 8.8mm) CMOS sensor that uses Fujifilm's EXR pixel arrangement. The 12MP sensor can produce either 12MP images in high resolution mode, under-expose half its pixels to provide 6MP images with greater dynamic range, or combine neighboring pixels for a 6MP high sensitivity mode. The X10 borrows extensively from the styling of the X100 (though its zooming viewfinder means you lose the X100's hybrid viewfinder), to give a camera that sits conceptually between the Olympus XZ-1 and the Canon Powershot G12.
